Meningokokk infeksiyasi — Neisseria meningitidis qo'zg'atuvchisi tomonidan chaqiriladigan, butun dunyo bo'ylab og'ir epidemiologik muammolardan birini tashkil etuvchi bakterial kasallik bo'lib, bolalar va o'smirlar orasida o'lim hamda nogironlik darajasi yuqori bo'lishi bilan xarakterlanadi. Ushbu ko'rib chiqish maqolasining maqsadi — meningokokk infeksiyasining etiologiyasi, virulentlik omillari, patogenezi, immunologik mexanizmlari va kasallikning og'ir kechishiga ta'sir qiluvchi zamonaviy omillarni tahlil qilishdan iborat. Maqolada Neisseria meningitidis ning mikrobiologik xususiyatlari, polisaxarid kapsula, lipooligosaxarid, pili, tashqi membrana oqsillari kabi virulentlik omillarining patogenetik ahamiyati, nazofaringeal kolonizatsiyadan tortib gematoensefalik to'siqning buzilishigacha bo'lgan bosqichlar, sitokin bo'roni va komplement tizimining roli, shuningdek mezbon genetik polimorfizmlarining kasallik kechishiga ta'siri batafsil yoritilgan. Zamonaviy genomika va proteomika tadqiqotlari, molekulyar diagnostika usullari, yangi avlod vaksinalarining samaradorligi va antibiotiklarga chidamlilik muammolari ham muhokama qilingan.
