Prospektiv kogort tadqiqotlarining meta-tahlilida metabolik sindrom (MS) tana vazni indeksiga muvofiqlashtirilgandan keyin ham ayollarda tizza osteoartrozi xavfini 23% ga oshirgan (RR 1,23; 95% IO 1,03–1,47), erkaklarda esa bunday bog‘liqlik aniqlanmagan. O‘zbekistonda ayollarning 55,4% da abdominal semizlik, kattalarning 38% da arterial gipertenziya qayd etilgan. Orol bo‘yi mintaqasidagi gipertenziyali bemorlarning 61,4% qismi ayollar bo‘lib, ularda 2-tip qandli diabet erkaklarga nisbatan ikki baravar ko‘p uchragan. Morfologik jihatdan MS fonidagi gonartrozda sinovit va Goff yog‘ tanasining fibroz-yallig‘lanish o‘zgarishlari tog‘ay yemirilishidan oldin rivojlanadi. Keyinchalik subxondral ishemiya, xondrotsitlarda lipid va glikatsiya mahsulotlari to‘planishi hamda tog‘ay destruksiyasi bilan davom etishini tasdiqlaydi.
