Changes in TNF-α and HGF levels have been identified in hepatitis A, demonstrating a link between inflammation and regeneration. An increase in TNF-α indicates its role as an inflammatory mediator, while an increase in HGF reflects a response to hepatocyte destruction and stimulates their proliferation for liver repair. Higher HGF levels are associated with greater liver damage and the need for active repair.
